Presidential Risk

Presidential Risk - Michael Bronte This book is so bad I can't force myself to finish reading it. I made it through the first several chapters just out of duty, but I can't do it anymore.

Why do I feel this way?

1. The book is disrespectful, bordering on offensive to pretty much everyone.
2. The book meanders so much, even though I made it to Chapter 11, pg. 74, I still don't know what's going on.
3. There is a fair amount of gratuitous violence and cussing.
4. There are strange references to people's race that don't seem to help with characterization. They seem to be there simply to show how "woke" the author is.

I've wasted enough time with this book. I'm out of here!

The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook: The Whole Food Approach to Great Taste and Healthy Eating

The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook: The Whole Food Approach to Great Taste and Healthy Eating - Jackie Newgent The All-Natural Diabetes Cookbook: The Whole Food Approach to Great Taste and Healthy Eating by Jackie Newgent R.D. is a collection of plant-based, nutritiously well-rounded, simple-to-fix recipes. Now out in its second edition, the book has been updated to include vegetarian and quick-fix recipes, tips for achieving high flavor and suggested menus.

I love eating healthfully and thought this would be a good addition to my growing collection of diabetes-related cookbooks.

In Conquest Born

In Conquest Born - C.S. Friedman I got lost along the way, forgetting who was who -- except for the main two characters. I pushed forward anyway and was rather unsatisfied with the ending.

Definitely Dead

Definitely Dead - Charlaine Harris These books are getting progressively less mysterious and interesting, while the sexual content is increasing. I don't think I like this trend, but I can't stop reading the next book anyway.

Dead as a Doornail

Dead as a Doornail - Charlaine Harris Although thoroughly entertaining as all of the Sookie Stackhouse books have been, I found this story less cohesive. The previous stories had a clear main story line that was the mystery. I kept forgetting that what the main story line on this one was. There was so much going on and the end left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I hope this isn't a trend!

The Time Ships

The Time Ships - Stephen Baxter I really enjoyed how Stephen Baxter was able to carry HG Wells voice through this novel. Interestingly, however, my favorite character was Nebogipfel, the Moorlock from the second timeline.

Married With Zombies

Married With Zombies - Jesse Petersen Love this series. Good fun reading.

The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World - Lynne McTaggart My science geek side was just as thrilled at reading this book as my spiritual side!

Pay Me What I'm Worth

Pay Me What I'm Worth - Soul Dancer This is a great book if you have a lot of time on your hands. The exercises can be powerful, but they are time consuming. Is the book worth reading if you don't do the exercises? Yes! The author has a unique take on what getting paid what you're worth means.

The Woman Who Changed Her Brain: And Other Inspiring Stories of Pioneering Brain Transformation

The Woman Who Changed Her Brain: And Other Inspiring Stories of Pioneering Brain Transformation - Barbara Arrowsmith-Young, Norman Doidge Dense reading ... but worth the hope it gives to anyone living with learning disabilities or knows someone who does. It was eye-opening for me.
